Esame del sangue - blood test

Alcuni dottori consigliano di fare un esame del sangue all’anno - Some doctors recommend having a blood test once a year.


Esperienza lavorativa - work experience

Avere esperienza lavorativa in questo campo è essenziale – Having work experience in this field is essential.


Fare bella figura - to make a good impression

L’idea di ‘fare bella figura’ non esite in Australia. Spesso al supermercato vedo la gente in pigiama e pantofole - The Italian concept of ' making a good impression' doesn't exist in Australia. I often see people in their pajamas and slippers at the supermarket. 


Fare finta - to pretend

Quando i predicatori suonano alla mia porta faccio sempre finta di dormire - When preachers ring my doorbell I always pretend to be asleep.


Fare immersione - to do scubadiving

Ho fatto immersione a Bali ed è stata una esperienza bellissima - I did scuba diving in Bali and it was a wonderful experience.


Fastidioso - annoying

È davvero fastioso quando le persone si lamentano sempre – It's really annoying when people always complain.


Fattura - invoice

A: “Ho ricevuto la fattura di un hotel a Las Vegas, ma non ci sono mai stata”.

B: “Ehm… Per quali giorni?”

A: “I received an invoice for a hotel in Las Vegas, but I have never been there”

B: “Um… For which days?” 


Freccia - indicator

La gente spesso non mette la freccia, forse pensano che gli altri automobilisti possano leggere nella loro mente… - People often don’t use their indicators, maybe they think that the other drivers can read their minds...


Gente del posto - locals

La gente del posto in Tailandia è sempre gentile e sorridente. Penso sia dovuto alla cultura buddista – The locals in Thailand are always kind and smiling. I think it's due to the Buddhist culture.  


Gestione - management

La gestione del personale deve essere molto difficile in qualsiasi azienda - Managing people must be very difficult in any company.


Governo - government

A: “Cosa succederebbe se tutti i governi si rifiutassero di avere un esercito?”

B: “Sembra una buona idea, ma pensi che sia possibile che tutto il mondo lo faccia?”

A: “Non adesso, ma forse un giorno…”

A: “What would happen if all governments refused to have an army?”

B: “It seems like a good idea, but do you think it’s possible that the whole world will do that?”

A: “Not now, but maybe one day…”


Hobby/passatempo - hobby

I miei hobby preferiti? Leggere manga e fare giardinaggio - My favorite hobbies? Reading manga and gardening.


Incidente stradale - car accident

L’altro giorno c’era un programma sugli incidenti stradali. Non sono riuscita a gurdarlo, ho dovuto cambiare canale - The other day there was a program on road accidents. I couldn't watch it, I had to change the channel.


Incubo - nightmare

A: “Ho avuto un incubo ieri sera. Ho sognato che il mondo era fatto di figure geometriche trasparenti e colorate”.

B: “Scusa ma cosa hai mangiato ieri sera?”

A: “Qualcosa di super leggero… La peperonata

B: “Ah, ecco. Ahah”.

A: “I had a nightmare last night. I dreamed that the world was made of transparent and colorful geometric figures”

B: “What did you eat last night?”

A: “Something super light… Peperonata

B: “Ah, that explains it. Haha”.
