Lavoro a tempo pieno – full time work

Lavoro a tempo parziale – part time work

A: Preferiresti lavorare a tempo pieno o a tempo parziale? - Would you prefer to work full time or part time?

B: Preferirei non lavorare per niente.

A: Ah ah! Dici così, ma so che non lo faresti mai.

Litigare – to fight

Maleducato – rude

A: Non mi piace il ragazzo di mia figlia, è maleducato.

Maniaco(-a) del lavoro/stacanovista – workaholic

Mansarda – attic

Quando ero piccola mi piaceva l’idea di avere una mansarda, ma ora penso che farebbe troppo caldo in estate – When I was little I liked the idea of having an attic, but now I think it would be too hot in the summer.

Marca – brand

Molte marche di abbigliamento donano parte dei loro profitti per aiutare l’ambiente. Per esempio, Patagonia dona i suoi profitti a cause ambientali. Nel settembre 2022, il fondatore di Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, ha annunciato che la proprietà dell'azienda sarebbe stata trasferita a un trust e a un'organizzazione no-profit per garantire che tutti i profitti, oltre a quelli reinvestiti nell'azienda, siano utilizzati per combattere il cambiamento climatico e proteggere le terre incontaminate a livello globale. Many clothing brands donate part of their profits to help the environment. For example, Patagonia donates its profits to environmental causes. In September 2022, Patagonia’s founder, Yvon Chouinard, announced that the company’s ownership would be transferred to a trust and a nonprofit organization to ensure that all profits, beyond those reinvested in the company, would be used to fight climate change and protect undeveloped land globally. This decision aligns with Patagonia’s existing initiatives, such as donating 1% of its annual sales to environmental organizations through the ‘1% for the Planet’ program. This commitment makes Patagonia an exceptional example of corporate responsibility in addressing environmental issues.

Minimizzare il problema – dismiss a problem

A: Perché ogni volta che discutiamo cerchi di minimizzare il problema?

B: Cerco solo di essere positiva…

A: Sì, ma io non voglio usare Uber Eats! Voglio imparare a cucinare!

A: Why do you try to dismiss the problem every time we argue?

Mutuo – mortgage

Noioso – boring
